skip hire company appeal against environmental charges

16 Oct 2012

A Darlington skip hire company stripped of its waste permit have appealed against one of the allegations made towards them.

Albert Hill Skip Hire had its waste permit stripped after serious breaches of environmental regulations were made.

The company have plans to appeal an allegation of flouting planning laws, which was confirmed yesterday by Darlington Borough Council.

Albert Hill Skip Hire and Raymond Shepherd, a director with the firm, were found guilty of ten charges of operating without Environment Agency permits.

The offences took place between 2008 and 2010 on Dodsworth Street and Whessoe Road in Darlington.

Due to these charges, the firm was banned from operating as a mixed waste transfer station on any site, but Mr Shepherd denied he had posed a pollution risk by using Dodsworth Street as a mixed waste transfer area with waste tipping and skip hire.

A hearing for the appeal will take place on Tuesday 6th November.
