A waste and recycling plant is set to be built and operated by recycling and resource management company Sita in Shepperton.
Surrey County Council approved the Shepperton Eco Park project, which has now been given a permit by the Environment Agency.
The Environment Agency reviewed the application and decided that Sita could comply with the permit without causing significant harm.
The plant will handle around 100,000 tonnes of waste each year and is being built on the site of an existing facility in Charlton Lane.
Spelthorne Borough Council is unhappy with the Environment Agency’s decision, as the permit clears the way for Sita to build and operate the Eco Park, which will be close to the homes of hundreds of people.
Sita say the park will treat waste in a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly way and it will generate green electricity which is expected to power thousands of homes.
Surrey Count Council were keen to approve the plan as they believe that it will also reduce a large amount of waste being sent to landfill.
Skip hire is always a handy to get rid of large amounts of waste and can be accessed all over the UK.
