minister says that the waste sector could help improve economic growth

11 Nov 2012

Lord De Mauley spoke at the annual Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) conference, suggesting how the ‘nation’s economy will benefit from a realignment of its hierarchy.’

The minister feels that this focus would benefit the UK because growth is the number one priority for the government to improve the economy. He suggested the waste and recycling industry can play a major role to help improve the growth.

He wants to encourage businesses to work with local authorities so that WRAP can help grow the economy and improve the environment at the same time.

A focus on waste management means that districts around the whole of the UK can reduce their carbon footprint and costs to send waste to landfill, and recycling materials will help to make the best use of resources.
