The decorations are down, the mince pies have all been eaten and all the fireworks have lit up the sky. It’s now 2017 and you’re probably thinking about a big clear out. There’s nothing quite like the sorting you do, in a new year – it seems to be much more brutal than your average spring clean. There might still be boxes lying around from Christmas presents or maybe your kids got so many presents, you need to get rid of some old ones they don’t use anymore.
Here at TopSkips, we think: if you haven’t used it in over a year, you probably don’t need it.
But why is a big declutter so important?
Did you know that humans work and think better in organised spaces? Seeing mess and clutter at home or work can slow down how fast we work and how efficiently we work. Studies show that a messy workspaces means that the human brain has to expand even further and, subconsciously, focus on more things – both cognitively and visually. This clogs up your mind and decreases how well you perform.
The science behind how clutter and mess leads to stress and anxiety was said by Havas Worldwide, which stated that the more stuff we have, the more depressed we tend to feel. So therefore having too much clutter in your home or office, can have an impact on your psychological health. Also, the cleaning and sorting process is said to reduce stress and anxiety – so it’s a win-win!
After all – tidy home, tidy mind!
When hiring a skip, there are certain things you need to be aware of. Firstly, what you can put in your skip. Skips are used for non-hazardous waste, like household items, green waste and building debris. Also, there is usually a line on the inside of the skip which is telling you where you can fill it up to – it can be very dangerous to overfill a skip.
If your skip is being placed on placed on public land, it will require a permit. To avoid being stuck with a nasty fine, TopSkips can sort you out with a permit – just let us know!
We have everything from 2 yard skips to 40 yard RORO’s. Of course, if you’re just having a clear out, at home, you won’t need a skip as large as a 40 yarder, but if you’re not sure on the exact size would be appropriate for where it is being placed and how much debris and waste you have to put in, our expert team can point you in the right direction!
