Of course, giving our customers the best possible service and best possible value is our main priority, as a business, but the team at TopSkips is also passionate about keeping the environment safe. Did you know that we recycle at least 70% of the waste in skips? This means that less waste is being sent to landfill sites and therefore reducing landfill tax.
In the district of Cumbria, there is a scheme in place called LATS (landfill allowance trading scheme) and the aim of it is to eventually reduce the percentage of landfill, in their area, by 70% by 2020. On landfill sites, there is an allowance of how much waste can be disposed of, and due lack of space, in recent years, it has become much stricter. In 2016, the county had a 171,647 tonne allowance, and by 2020 it is set to be deceased to 51,422 tonnes. The Cumbria Waste Solution was put in place in order to reduce the amount of waste and help the environment. In 2012, a lot of the waste in Cumbria has been sent for mechanical biological treatment. This produces a solid recovered fuel, which is a potential alternative to fossil fuels, making it much more environmentally friendly. This system can allow TopSkips to recycle up to 90% of the waste in our skips.

The county of Cumbria is predominately rural as it is home to the Lake District and the Lake District National Park. It’s said to be one of England’s most stunning areas, filled with natural beauty such as lakes, mountains and countryside. Not just this, there are also many hamlets and small villages within the county that are quaint and old-fashioned, bringing in visitors from all over. There is always work being carried out within Cumbria to ensure it remains in good condition, without spoiling any of the archaic features. An area called Silloth Green underwent a recent transformation to improve the education, events and recreational facilities. The investment in the Victorian seaside town cost £2million. This was a large renovation which is just the sort of job our industrial skips were made to handle. Being a nationwide company means we have depots all over. We have a large range of industrial sized skips so you’re bound to find one to meet your requirements.
