Watch our guides to selecting the skip that suits your project
TopSkips has provided skips of all sizes to customers all across the East Midlands area for over 13 years now – from Northampton to Lincoln and beyond. Why should you choose TopSkips? Here are some reasons:
The East Midlands is the fourth largest county in the UK, covering an area of 15,637km squared and it is home to around 4.5 million people. The fact that it lies quite close to London, and is well served by a good transport network of both roads and railways has helped its economy to thrive as well. One of the largest contributors to the economy in the East Midlands is cement, as the area manufactures 25% of the UK’s cement through three factories based here. Despite all this industry taking place in the area The East Midlands seems to have a good grip on its waste management process. A recent study by The Environment Agency showed that out of the nine regions in the UK; the East Midlands was one of only three that showed no increase in the amount of tonnage it was sending to landfill. Recycling and waste management is really important to us here at TopSkips, and we do all that we can to ensure that we dispose of your commercial and domestic waste in a way that complies with EA legislation.
This finding is supported by the news that a local waste management firm, Wastecycle, has invested over £6million in the last 12 months with the acquisition of extra land and the installation of a wood-picking line at its plant in the East Midlands. This investment in waste management in the area has resulted in a broadening of the recycling services currently on offer, and also an increased capacity for recycling from Wastecycle. They have also added 24 new vehicles to their fleet, including a specialist food-waste collection truck and other new equipment as well.
Northampton recently became a government expansion zone with the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) undertaking a number of regeneration schemes in the area, including the building of a new bus station, the creation of a Cultural Quarter and the improvement of the waterside area. Our experienced team are able to offer project managers of developments like these, their expert help and advice which can lead to them saving both time and money when it comes to hiring skips in Northampton. The majority of the factories in this area have now been converted into offices and accommodation, and TopSkips have been able to work closely with contractors on these redevelopments to provide them with the most cost-effective solutions to their waste removal needs.
Interestingly enough, Northampton Borough Council is currently considering whether to outsource its environmental services when its current contract with the Enterprise Managed Services Group ends in June 2018. The services that are under consideration include waste and recycling as well as street cleaning. There are currently three options they are considering for Northampton: a) bringing the services back in house, b) using an existing local authority owned company, or c) going back out to the market and re-awarding the contract to an external supplier.
Over the years that TopSkips have been in business, we have helped over 100,000 customers dispose of their waste successfully – including customers in the Lincoln area. Developed from an Iron Age settlement the area has seen a lot of investment in retail parks recently, most notably the Tritton Road Trading Estate. There is also another large development underway, namely Lindongate, which will house shops, a department store, a hotel, apartments and new transport facilities. We have worked with many contractors on developments such as these over the years, and the vast majority of them come back to us time and time again as they are so impressed with our service.
